Numbering Our Days: A verse by verse exposition of Ps. 90, especially "so teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom."
Pondering the Path of Life: From Prov. 5:5-6 (of the “strange woman”) – “... her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.” We must avoid the moveable ways of moral relativism and the self-centered culture, and ponder the big questions of life and death.
Ecclesiastes #1: An introduction to Ecclesiastes, and a look at how Solomon had tried all possible forms of human endeavor and involvements, and yet found that, in the end, they were all "vanity". We should enjoy things without seeing them as ends in themselves. God enables his children to live in contentment, and to truly enjoy his bounty, and to be thankful.
Ecclesiastes #2: Of Times and Seasons. How there is a time and season for all, and how we can fulfil God's purpose for us, even without knowing his overall plan.
7/23/2023 - Created for God's Glory #1. From Rev. 4:11, "... for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." God created everything for a purpose, according to his own will. He has a purpose, not just for creation in general, or nations, but for us individually. Our purpose in life should be in agreement with his purpose for us.This first lesson deals with the things God does for his own "pleasure" as, creating the universe, creating man to have dominion, creating woman and the institution of marriage, revealing himself through the creation and through his Word, bringing about the kingdom of God, and others.
8/13/2023 - Created for God's Glory #2. From Rev. 4:11, "... for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." Our purpose in life should be to fulfill God's purpose for our lives, yet that ultimate purpose is not known to us. They answer is to seek to know his will, both generally and specifically, in the immediate time frame, and walk according to that. If we do this conistently, we will find that God does bring his larger plan to fruition. Prov. 16:9 – “A man’s heart deviseth his way, but the LORD directeth his steps.”
8/27/2023 - Created for God's Glory #3. From Rev. 4:11, "... for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." Is it possible to please God, and if so, how? This lesson shows how we can please God in our heart and mind, in our actions, in attitudes, and in doctrine.
6/16/2024 - Death and Resurrection #1: Why does Eccl. 7 say that funerals are better then birthdays? This is a look at death and why many people fear it, but why it is so different for a Christian believer.
6/23/2024 - Death and Resurrection #2: How does God see death, especially of one of his own? What follows death, a study of "Lazarus and the rich man" in Lk. 16. Also, what is the difference between Paradise and Hades, and "Heaven" and Hell?
6/30/2024 - Death and Resurrection #3: A study about the future resurrection of both righteous and unrighteous. Jesus said repeatedly "and I will raise him up at the last day". How does this affect people's general belief that when we die it is just "heaven or hell" and that is the end of it?
